Drier. Cleaner. Healthier. The Walsh's Chem-Dry
Advantage
Have
you ever noticed that when something is wet for a long time it often
starts to smell? Well that's usually because mold and bacteria have
begun to grow. That can happen when a carpet cleaner soaks your carpet
with gallons and gallons of soapy water. Not only can the odor be unpleasant,
it can become very unhealthy as well and cause many reappearing spots.
With a drier cleaning system like Chem-Dry, you don't have to worry
about that. Your carpets are clean, dry, and healthy.
Effective and innovative cleaner.
Chem-Dry uses a remarkable new cleaning solution called The Natural.
The Natural, green and clean, contains CO2 to produce millions of
sparkling, effervescing, carbonated bubbles which quickly penetrate
each carpet fiber, dissolving dirt, grease, and pet stains in seconds.
Acting as tiny propellants, the bubbles actually lift dirt to the surface
for extraction. Our businesses have removed stains and spots that have
been shampooed or steamed without success several times. Carpets that
were going to be replaced have been restored to practically new condition.
Carpets stay cleaner longer.
Once the soil, grease, and stains have
been loosened and extracted, the solution simply evaporates. Having
substituted crystal clear CO2 as the release agent, instead of soaps
and harsh chemicals used in other methods, there are no sticky residues
left in your carpets to attract dirt. Carpets cleaned with the Chem-Dry
method stay clean as long as factory fresh carpets.
Rapid Drying.
The Natural has a high concentration of CO2 that eliminates
the need for the massive amounts of water used in other processes (see
below). Research and experience have proven that over wetting is harmful
to carpet life and creates numerous problems. With the Natural, the
CO2 in solution allows complete penetration of the fiber and removal
of the soil without over wetting. Most carpets are dry in 1 to 2 hours!
Safe and Non-Toxic
With the Natural, don’t worry about small children or pets using
your freshly cleaned carpets. Not only will they be dry, but also our
general cleaning formula is totally non-toxic and free from harsh,
dangerous chemicals.
A Brief Comparison Of the Other Methods
Shampoo, foam and dry foam.
The theory of this process is to first loosen the dirt from the carpet
fiber with the use of a brush and high foaming, sudsing soaps and detergents!
Secondly, to surround the dirt particles through the use of anti-redeposition
agents such as carboxy methyl cellulose, and finally to vacuum out
the dried and surrounded dirt particles. Tests and literature by various
companies confirm the fact that the ingredients used in these processes
never completely dry, but cling to every carpet fiber actually attracting
more dust and soil. Housekeepers continually tell our businesses how
quickly carpets resoil after they were shampooed.
Steam, cold water
extraction, and showcase.
This type of process jets down large amounts
of either hot or cold water with or without added chemicals. Showcase
methods use shampoo as explained above and then rinses the carpet
with water extraction. The theory is to loosen dirt with large amounts
of water and chemicals by flooding the carpet and then immediately
remove the dirt and water with suction. Carpet store and manufacturers
discourage their customers from using these methods due to the risks
of over wetting, which can cause warping of hardwood floors, rotting
deterioration of the natural jute backing, mildew, shrinkage, and the
inconvenience of a long drying period.
Dry cleaning.
Dry cleaning seemed to be the logical alternative since
it uses much less water or none at all, therefore reducing the possibility
of over wetting. However, the majority of dry cleaning products are
petroleum distillates. When applied with enough strength to clean
well, this method results in a high residue problem and greater possibility
of toxicity since vapors from petroleum distillates are not regarded
as safe. Fluorocarbons are also used for dry cleaning but have recently
been found unsafe by the FDA, due to its highly volatile nature.
Like other dry cleaning solutions, it also has a residue problem
when applied at strengths necessary to achieve good cleaning results.
Some companies merely use shampoo and call it dry cleaning to exhibit
to the public they are not using large amounts of water as in steam
and some shampoo methods.
